Therapy for adults navigating trauma, relationship challenges, and emotional difficulties
Support for emotional and relational healing, stability, and a stronger sense of self
Many people reach out because something in the present feels urgent. Emotional distress, relationship breakdowns, difficulty functioning at work, or a recent diagnosis can signal that something needs to change.

You may know yourself better than it feels right now, and you may already sense whether it is time to explore therapy as an option.

A diagnosis is not required to begin therapy.
At the same time, it is common for people I work with to have received trauma-related diagnoses such as PTSD or complex PTSD. Others are navigating emotional and relational difficulties that may be described as anxiety, chronic stress, depression, mood instability, or difficulties often associated with borderline personality disorder. Diagnosis or not, you are more than a diagnosis.

Therapy begins by addressing what feels most pressing, while also making sense of the patterns and experiences that have shaped how you cope, relate, and get through life over time.

Sherry Slejska
Trauma-focused psychotherapist
Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW)

I take an integrative, trauma-focused approach to psychotherapy, working with adults who are navigating emotional distress, relationship difficulties, or patterns that are no longer working in their lives. Some people come seeking trauma-focused therapy, while others are looking for support during a period of instability, overwhelm, or transition.

My training includes comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which I draw on when structure, skills, and stability are needed. I also integrate trauma-informed evidence-based cognitive strategies, schema-informed and parts-oriented work, somatic interventions, and gently paced trauma processing when appropriate. Our work together is shaped by your unique story and what you’re facing right now, with careful attention to safety, pacing, and choice.

Start the conversation
Reaching out for therapy does not require certainty or a long explanation. Many people begin simply by sharing a few words about what they are navigating, or by asking a question to see whether this approach might be a fit.

-
We begin with a free 15-minute phone or video conversation, if you wish

-
This is a chance to briefly share what’s bringing you here and to ask any questions you may have

-
You can get a sense of how it feels to speak together and whether the approach feels right for you

-
There is no pressure to continue beyond this conversation

If we decide to move forward, we schedule a first session focused on getting to know one another and addressing what feels most pressing right now. Over time, I work to understand your context more fully, and together we decide how to move forward. Some people work short-term around a specific concern, while others choose to engage over a longer period as their needs evolve.

You are never obligated to continue. You are free to pause, change direction, or return to therapy later if life brings new challenges.
